I still have the same problem that you do.
I have an '88.
I even switched to a hotter plug.
The book recomends a NGK xxx8, I tried an xxx7, and now I am running a xxx6, and it is till fouling.
I even took the carburetor a part and I noticed that the "transition"(?) diaphram ( the small one on the side) was completely stuck. I cleaned it out and got it moving again. It ran good for a while, but now it is fouling the plug again.
I am at a loss!!!
